Hutchies is seeking an experienced Site Engineer – Building Services to join our Hobart Team.

The role is a site based role working as part of a large project team, leading on site coordination of the building services scope of work.

#Responsibilities

As the Site Engineer – Building Services you will report to the Project Manager and Site Manager.

Alongside other members of the project team, you will participate in:

  • The procurement of the building services subcontracts and trade works
  • The planning, scheduling, and day to day coordination and management of the building services subcontractors
  • The budget management and cost control of the building services subcontracts

Independently of other members of the project team, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing technical submissions of the Building Services subcontractors including shop drawings, plant and equipment specifications and cut sheets
  • Issuing drawings, technical specifications, and other requirements to the building services subcontractors
  • Compiling, reviewing, and submitting building services operation and maintenance manuals to the design consultants and client
  • Managing the design query or request for information (RFI) process between the subcontractors and design consultants
  • Communicating the impact of planned service interruptions to the client in advance of any planned services interruption
  • Working with the building services subcontractors to develop suitable construction methodologies when working in existing operational facilities to ensure the risk of unplanned service interruptions is minimised
  • Ensuring the building services installations comply with the technical requirements of the drawings and specifications
  • Coordinating the commissioning, defect rectification and handover process

#Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a building services discipline, preferably mechanical or electrical engineering
  • A minimum 2 years graduate experience as a building services professional in the building, construction, industrial or civil infrastructure industries
  • In the absence of tertiary qualifications, a trade qualification in a relevant discipline and 5 years tradesperson experience
  • A demonstrated ability to solve complex problems while working within a large team
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders
