Hutchies is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Contracts Manager to join our hard working team based in our Toowoomba office on a full time permanent basis.

#Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to promote, encourage and assist our team in tendering and executing Head Contracts that support effective commercial (contractual and financial) practices.

As the Contracts Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide advice and information on contractual and commercial matters
  • Prepare and review tender documentation and responses for subcontract work and assess and appoint subcontractors with input from other appropriate personnel
  • Draft and negotiate construction documents including financier side deeds
  • Overview and critique tender submissions and succinctly summarise contractual terms and conditions in departures tables
  • When required be able to identify risk management issues with sub-contractors, consultants, and clients
  • Assist in the management of contractual and commercial disputes
  • Select and appoint legal consultants as required
  • Review head contracts prior to signing, to ensure all contact deliveries are detailed and responsibilities assigned – follow through to ensure action items are closed out
  • Assist with managing project managers, contract administrators and relevant project staff to enable understanding and compliance with commercial requirements in contracts with customers as per policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Attend contract acceptance and contract review meetings as necessary to ensure compliance with contract requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with negotiation of commercial issues, minor and major contract disputes when delegated by senior management Negotiate contract terms and conditions with customers as authorised by senior management in liaison with project management, as per policies, procedures, and guidelines

#Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Law, Construction Management, Commerce, Business, or other associated disciplines will be highly regarded
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in either contract negotiation and management of head contracts within the construction industry, property finance lending or credit roles within financial institutions, or in a law firm focussing on construction or property related work
  • Advanced skills in project contract administration, general business administration, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Commercially astute, with a strong eye for detail and a team player
  • Ability to work independently but know when to raise issues for discussion with senior management
