Pressing Matters is a multi award winning winery located in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. The estate is positioned on picturesque hillside and spread over more than 15 hectares of property.
It was founded in 2002 by the Mellick family who in 2019 teamed up with their neighbours, the Hall family, to unite their Morningside vineyard together and invest in new facilities for the winery including tasting room, general infrastructure and new plantings.
Hutchies was proud to undertake the construction of Pressing Matters’ new purpose designed winemaking facilities including a beautiful new cellar door experience, state of the art production facilities, staff offices and amenities, and a refurbishment to the onsite site residence.
The project was delivered in an extremely tight timeframe, prioritising the new cool room in time for the 2022 grape harvest. The production areas include laboratory, barrel room, stem room, fermenting room with a number of vats and specialty equipment, as well as a large open 520m2 hardstand area designated for grape destemming, sorting and pressing.
Our team worked hard to maintain a tight budget against rising labour and material costs to mitigate risks to the project.
