PalaisTheatre

The Palais Theatre is an iconic live performance venue in St Kilda operated by Live Nation. With a 2,896 people capacity, it is Australia’s largest, fully seated theatre.

The building was originally built in 1920 and its design by architect Henry White was typical of a picture theatre at the time. It neighbours Luna Park and its exterior style features a similar character with exquisite detail that is ornate, eclectic and exotic. Inside the themeing celebrates Neoclassical tall columns, pilasters and feature domes in the auditorium that are all creatively illuminated.

It hosts more than 100 events per year, ranging from live music, theatre, comedy, opera, ballet, film and other community events. For almost a century the Palais has regularly hosted top musicians and performers, including the likes of Johnnie Ray, Bob Hope, The Rolling Stones, Tom Jones, Al Green, Kenny Rogers, The Monkeys and UB 40, to name a few.

The works included creating a new administration space for our client, Live Nation, as well as an ambulent toilet, accessible lift, internal bar, winter garden and rectification of various heritage aspects of the building.
