Following our successful project at Logan Hospital, Hutchies was commissioned to undertake a similar modular expansion at Redland Hospital. The new facility is a 28 bed mental health building, complete with a reception area, offices, and meeting rooms.

Hutchies prioritised the project to ensure the facility was operational as soon as possible. The installation process was particularly challenging due to the hospital campus location and the intricate in situ connection works required. Despite these challenges, the project was a resounding success, completed in 32 weeks with minimal disruption to the hospital operations.

As part of the Queensland Government’s Accelerated Infrastructure Delivery Plan (AIDP) in collaboration with Metro South Health, Hutchies Modular successfully constructed the new inpatient ward at Redland Hospital. This expansion added 28 additional beds, improving patient flow through the emergency department and enabling patients to receive the care they need more promptly.

Located in the bustling heart of the Redland Hospital campus, the site posed significant challenges for traditional on site construction. With the urgent need for additional beds, Hutchies Modular’s off-site prefabrication solution was able to design, build, and install the new facility in just 32 weeks.

A crucial aspect of this project was Hutchies’ ability to construct the linkway as a modular solution while meeting stringent fire rating requirements. Given the confined site and the presence of two other contractors working nearby, careful coordination was necessary for the installation in the active hospital environment. The new inpatient building was constructed over an existing car park, and careful attention was paid to the building height to ensure it connected seamlessly with the existing building and linkway as it wound its way around the new road and existing structure.
