The Construction Training Centre (CTC) trusted Hutchies to build their new purpose designed and built learning hub – known as the Bob Marshman Building, which adopts a range of innovative sustainable initiatives. Delivered under the AS4000 – 1997 – Amended – Construct Only contract, the project was completed on time and on budget, and created an amazing partnership between Queensland’s largest builder and one of the state’s best known building and construction training specialists.
CTC is a leader in environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. The building exemplifies sustainable design and ESG principles. Achieving Passive House certification, the Bob Marshman Building features energy saving solar panels, EV chargers, and rainwater systems. The design also promotes pandemic safety and superior air quality with low VOC materials.
Worker wellbeing, diversity, and the use of low carbon materials were prioritised. Waste reduction and local purchasing were emphasised, along with upskilling in sustainable practices. CTC’s Bob Marshman Building, a model of sustainability, maintains airtightness, uses high quality windows, and incorporates heat recovering ventilation systems. The design eliminates thermal bridges, ensuring energy conservation.
These measures, managed through rigorous on site protocols, set a new standard for environmentally responsible buildings. The project's success is a collective triumph, reflecting the shared vision and dedication of all parties involved, and it will undoubtedly inspire similar endeavours in the quest for a greener, more sustainable future.
