With its 5 Star Green Star rating, the Queensland Emergency Operational Centre (QEOC) is one of Hutchies' greatest success stories. The centre was operationalised early at the height of the 2011 floods, after key areas of construction were fast tracked to activate the centre early as the primary broadcast facility.

The centre went live before completing the full commissioning process, due to the urgency of the natural disaster at hand. Despite this, there were no faults or defects identified. This is a testimony to the care and diligence applied to the construction.

The building is the largest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and is designed in line with world's best practice for a communication and disaster coordination centre. Information and communications technology is a major aspect of the project and one of the key enablers to achieving a world class facility.
