Hutchies took park in the development of the Washed on James Carwash and Café. Construction included building a plant room with a mezzanine floor, a large advertising sign, six vacuum stations suited to large vehicles and an office complete with a small kitchenette and workbench for the client. 

The café development was built as a shell only with roughed-in services ready for the client to fit-out once a tenant was engaged. To support the café, Hutchies constructed a drive through with servery windows and ordering points.

The project required clever planning to safeguard the structure from the various natural events experienced by Toowoomba. Preventative measures included constructing on high land to avoid damage from floods and the installation of five rainwater tanks to help against droughts. 

As part of the development, an in-ground water tank was also installed which allows the client to capture and recycle used water, lessening the impact on the town water / sewer system. To guarantee its functionality and longevity, Hutchies tested the system and continually monitored the falls within the concrete carpark to ensure the water didn’t run back, flood and damage the system.
