Hutchies’ two station accessibility upgrades with Queensland Rail are on track.

The two projects are underway in Burpengary and Bundamba, both being led by Hutchies’ Cy Milburn Team.

Delivered under Queensland Rail’s flagship Station Accessibility Upgrade Program, the works will see platforms raised to be closer to train doors, with new tactiles installed, adding new lifts, and the refurbishing of the original station buildings to preserve their historic significance.

Two footbridges, weighing 35 ton and 65 ton, were prefabricated on site and craned into place over Scheduled Corridor Access System (SCAS) weekends.

Hutchies has proudly delivered more than 12 projects with Queensland Rail over the last 20 years — we’re well versed working on these highly complex projects.

To mark the milestone of these upgrades, Burpengary Station buried a new time capsule on the site with contributions from local students and community groups, including Hutchies.

Hutchies is honoured to include a jar of Hutchinson Honey Bees in the time capsule, along with a limited edition 112 Year Hutchinson Builders Shield to mark the occasion. Honey is said to last for centuries.

These important community projects are scheduled for completion later this year.
