Hutchies is seeking a motivated Project Administrator to join our Cairns team. This role is ideal for 1st‑year Construction Management students looking to kick‑start their career.

You’ll gain hands‑on project experience with clear pathways into cadet, contract administration, or project management roles as you grow. A great opportunity to start strong in the construction industry. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.

#Responsibilities

As a Project Administrator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate project meetings, including agendas, minute‑taking, distribution of documents, and follow‑up of action items
  • Manage diary, email, travel arrangements, and general administrative support for the project team
  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations, monthly updates, and project documentation
  • Support contract administration tasks, including subcontract letting, preparing subcontract documents, and processing invoices
  • Maintain project registers such as variations, EOTs, procurement, and document control systems
  • Undertake weekly site visits to support project delivery and collaborate closely with site personnel
  • Assist with defect management and project close‑out processes
  • Provide day‑to‑day office support, ensuring smooth operations across the team
  • Reconcile expenses and manage business administration tasks as required
  • Perform additional duties as directed to support project and team outcomes

#Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or currently studying in the respective field for this role
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of market conditions, construction techniques, and industry standards, with a willingness to learn Hutchies’ minimum standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
  • Ability to foster strong relationship building with all relevant stakeholders
  • A down-to-earth, fun, friendly and professional approach to your work
