Hutchies marked National Apprenticeship Week Australia with a visit from Triple M’s Greg "Marto" Martin and the Subway crew to our Build to Rent project at 50 Quay Street in Brisbane.

The team from Subway arrived with more than 100 subs, Lipton iced teas and a stack of merch for our apprentices and their supervisors. Everything came in a refrigerated van and helped bring the project team together while highlighting the important role apprenticeships play in construction.

Hutchies backs apprentices through structured training, hands‑on learning and the support of our inhouse Registered Training Organisation, Hutchies Training. Our training team helps young people – especially those from underrepresented groups – start a career in construction.
This includes programs such as our ‘Ready 4 Construction’ initiative, funded through the Queensland Government Career Ready Vet in Schools program.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the day, including the project team at 50 Quay Street, Triple M, Subway, Hutchies Training, MIGAS, TIACS, CSQ and the apprentices who shared their stories with Marto.
National Apprenticeship Week Australia shines a light on the people who keep our industry moving – apprentices, mentors and the teams who pass on their knowledge.
At Hutchies, we are proud to play an active role in improving attraction and driving high completion rates across the industry, through our ongoing investment in the next generation of our workforce.

As 50 Quay Street Site Manager Luke Hinds (Hutchies’ Constructor of the Year 2024) said at the end of the visit, the show’s over – now we can get back to building Brisbane.
