Hutchies is excited to announce the expansion of our Global Building Exchange Program (GBEP) with a new construction partner in Canada.
We launched the GBEP pilot for Cadets / Junior Contract Administrator in 2023 with Wates in the UK.
The first exchange kicked off in March 2024 with James Metcalfe joining Hutchies from London and Oliver Macklin in Jamie Washington’s Team heading to London with Wates.
The GBEP is designed to foster the professional development of our people by providing them with the opportunity to immerse themselves in alternative construction markets while travelling to new countries.

Jack Hutchinson Jnr, Director of Hutchies, explained “many of Hutchies’ people have lived abroad and gained worldly experiences.
“We want to provide this opportunity for people to travel and expand their horizons while maintaining their career path.
“By partnering with likeminded builders, it opens up different perspectives working in other markets, he said.”
Now Hutchies is proud to be partnering with Axiom Builders in Vancouver to expand the program’s global opportunities, with the first Canadian exchange commencing in 2025.
Axiom Builders was established in 2003 and has grown into one of British Columbia’s largest construction companies, delivering across both the residential and commercial sectors.
Baxter Foreman, a Contract Administrator in Mitch Grimmer’s Team will head to Canada for 12 months in 2025.
Taking his spot will be Connor Lee from Axiom in Vancouver who will join us in Brisbane.
Following the successful completion of the first exchange with UK builder, Wates earlier this year, we’re continuing to explore ways to expand the program for other roles across our workforce such as final year apprentices and recent graduates in other disciplines.
